Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup maida flour
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 4 cups of water
  • 8 tsp oil
  • 1 cup toor dal
  • 1 cup jaggery
  • 1 cup grated coconut
  • 2 cardamom pods

Instructions:

  • 1. Add maida and a pinch of turmeric powder mix well
  • 2. Add 3/4 cup of water little by little and knead it into a medium firm dough
  • 3. Add 2 table spoons of oil and knead again ,add another 3 tbsp of oil & cover it and leave it for about 4-5 hours
  • 4. Take a cooker add toor dal , 3 cups of water and a pinch of turmeric powder, cook it for upto 4 whistles & allow it to cool.
  • 5. Remove the excess water from the cooked dal & add jaggery powder, grated coconut heat for 10 mins
  • 6. Take a grind add mixture, elaichi ( cardamom) and grind well
  • 7. Roll the filling into medium sized laddos in the palm
  • 8. Grease a plastic sheet & the rolling pin with oil
  • 9. Take a medium - size portion of the dough. Flatten the dough slightly and place the filling in the centre
  • 10. Close the open ends with the dough & add a drop of oil on the top.
  • 11. Place it on the greased plastic sheet & roll it into flat thin rotis with the hands & rolling pin
  • 12. Heat the pan & carefully peel off the plastic sheet
  • 13. Let it cook on one side. While pouring a few drops of oil on the other side
  • 14. Flip it over & let it cook till the dough turns light brown.
  • 15.Finally serve hot puran poli ( below obbattu)
